The Preferences window

Select the "Preferences…" command from the Edit menu to open the Preferences window. There you can set different options that affect the way VSE Link Tester works.

The "General” panel

Edit local links with X
When you are testing a local web site and double-click a web page URL in the report that is displayed in the Test window, VSE Link Tester will open that web page in the HTML editor of your choice. That allows you to quickly correct broken links.

Show filtered URL’s
Select this option if you want VSE Link Tester to show a message when a URL has been filtered out. This helps you to control your filter settings.

Show about window at startup
If you deselect that option, VSE Link Tester won't show the about window when you launch the application.

The "Link Test” panel

Use web proxy
If your Internet Service Provider uses a proxy server, enter the address of the proxy server in this edit field. Your ISP (Internet Service Provider) can give you the address of your proxy server. If you have a direct connection to the Internet, leave that field blank.

Test URLs in <FORM ACTION> TAGS
VSE Link Tester cannot send the variables which are associated with a form. Therefore, some servers respond with an error message although the link itself works. If you select this option, you might get some false error messages when testing URLs from <FORM ACTION> tags.

The "Report” panel

No report
If select this option, VSE Link Tester won't create an additional report.

HTML report
If you want VSE Link Tester to create an HTML report, select this option. Use the popup menu to select a web browser of your choice. That web browser will be used to display the HTML report that is created when the link test is done.

Text report
If you want VSE Link Tester to create a plain text report, select this option. Use the popup menu to select a text editor of your choice. That text editor will be used to display the text report that is created when the link test is done.

Report only broken links
If you select this option, VSE Link Tester won't list all the links that it has tested.
